Review "Crime-writer superstar Sara Blaedel's great skill is in weaving a heartbreaking social history into an edge-of-your-chair thriller while at the same time creating a detective who's as emotionally rich and real as a close friend. Her books are riveting with strong character development and twisting plot that keeps one engaged to the last page.

I feel that this book was not up to par with her other books. The plot seemed to be cumbersome and the characters like cardboard cutouts. Came in a timely manner in good shape. Reading this book now, very good read January brings us more Sara Blaedel. As might be expected, the book is comprised of two separate plots that proceed along parallel tracks for a bit before intersecting.

Stolen Angel

This is standard procedure for the majority of contemporary mystery stories, but Blaedel does a particularly good job of using it in two important ways. First, finding the common element between two very diverse plotlines seems almost impossible. Secondly, Blaedel tends to have the different mysteries sooner rather than later in her books. The first involves a collector of sorts whose macabre interests focus on a terrifying tableau that he is constructing, and adding to, as the novel commences. Rumors had long circulated that the Sachs-Smith family had discovered the icon and smuggled it out of Turkey decades earlier.

There are a lot of moving parts to the plot, though Blaedel keeps everything well-oiled and moving with nary a squeak as she leads the reader through the book to a series of startling and satisfying conclusions. Reviewed by Joe Hartlaub. One person found this helpful.

Maybe it's the translation I assume but I'm find this a very clunky read, very stilted. You don't have to tell me that an Audi is big and a Mini Cooper is little and this was just in one sentence. And I agree with the other reviewer; the characters are almost cartoony. I love all her books. But this one is not as good as her previous ones. I bought this book and realized its part of a seriesp, does anyone know thwn full order of the series and where this book falls in it?

I loved this story. This story was by far the best of this series. Although H acted like a jerk after he slept with h, I found his reaction reasonable after understood his background. And I liked how patient he was when he tried his best to gain h's forgiveness. The only thing I found lacking was h's threat, the villain. Not sure why made him looked not as bad as we thought at first. All in all, this was a great story! View all 6 comments. Apr 23, Talltree marked it as no-dnf-zzz-avoid.

Apparently H takes h's virginity when she's really drunk after an office party, he flies away for work the next day and when he's back tells her he's not interested in her and pushes it in her face that he's taking his regular fuck buddy away with him for the weekend.

He actually does go away with OW for the weekend though he is unable to being himself to be intimate with her Not a winner for sure: View all 22 comments. In this book, Stolen Angel, we have an incredibly sweet and sexy romance between a nerd girl and a bad boy one of my favorite tropes , a Big Terrible Misunderstanding that drives the lovers apart not my favorite plot device usually but here it was actually handled well a sufficient amount of groveling by the hero, and a less than stellar action sequence straight out of Miami Vice it's okay, I will let it slide.

All in all, a highly enjoyable, well written book that was definitely needed after a lengthy book slump. Feb 28, Linda rated it it was amazing. She had subbed at the Damov Corporation but she kept to herself choosing not to make friends as she rarely stayed in a job for longer than three or four months.

When Sergei Damov made her his executive assistant, she was given more and more work to challenge her mind. Unknowing to her boss, she had cut her teeth with her dad who was a whiz at engineering and math, it was a no brainer to go to college and follow in his footsteps. She loved engineering and making robots with her dad, but now Karl Grayson had designs to her dad's patents and the wealth of Stonewall Corporation from her once he finished her off! From the moment Sergio saw Ada putting together a model without using anything to help her, he fell in love the the petite mousy hair woman wearing huge glasses to cover her violet Liz Taylor eyes.

Ada joked around with his other assistant and turned her million dollar smile on Tim who had a crush on her yet time after time he asked her to call him Sergio but she never did nor did she smile at him the way she smiled at Tim! In all his dealings with gorgeous women at his beck and call, he only cared about a woman who didn't know he exists!

As a multi-billionaire he craved the only woman that ignored him! Lucy Leroux writes about Sergio this time and his quest to woo the only woman determined to ignore him but when they were alone, he couldn't help but kiss her, yet the next business day she acted like it never happened while all he could do was think about it!

Jan 14, sweet rated it it was ok. This one started off good but then it became an entirely different book. I was surprised at the direction it took. However, the story then dragged with a terrible kidnapping scenario that had the H in the background for almost half the book. Lastly, the first time the couple is intimate the h is drunk.

There w This one started off good but then it became an entirely different book. There was a serious issue of consent which made the H seem like a rapist. There was nothing romantic about losing your virginity while you are drunk and unable to make decisions. May 17, DemetraP rated it it was ok. I didn't really feel the romance in this book. He's her boss and she's his assistant.

I felt like they got together very quickly and the rest of the book is on the threat to her. In Calen's Captive the hero and heroine spend most of the book getting to know each other. I believed in the romance in that book. Good but not great This is the third book I have read in this series. The first 2 books were excellent. This one did not hit the right note on the romance level. I love yous are not exchanged until the Epilogue which occurs 5 months after the ending. No wedding plans are ever discussed.

Plus, they never really clicked as a couple for me. They had a one nighter that ended badly, then months later they end up back together but it seemed as thought it was just something to do because of circumstance Good but not great This is the third book I have read in this series. They had a one nighter that ended badly, then months later they end up back together but it seemed as thought it was just something to do because of circumstances rather than love of even lust.

Something was always happening. Frankly, I thought it was too much and there were still some loose threads at the end of the book. Also, the couple spent way more time apart in the story than together.

Sergei now uses every resource he has at his disposal to find her and protect her from whatever she is running from. Can her find her and can he heal the damage he caused when he ran? This is a great story and added another facet to the story building in the previous two parts of the series. I think you could read this stand alone although it added to the story for me to understand who some of the characters were.

It was well written and the emotions and experiences were told clearly and I could feel how the characters were feeling. Dec 21, Sam Sulim rated it liked it. Well, book 1 was more than great in my opinion, but this one doesn't even get close. I thought the same author and same series so it should be of the same quality. What I didn't like is that we dont get to see how the relationship between H and h progress.

The just kept ignoring each other until they slept together then again ignoring.. Then there are the love scenes. They are strange, fast and wierd. And then the author prolonged the actions until it was really boring. Aug 06, Teri rated it really liked it. I loved this book but it isn't the typical story this series has had, I mean the sex isn't really a factor in this read and I see it has made some folks upset.

But it really is a fast and furious read about a young lady who is in a world of trouble and works for Sergi one of the guys we have been getting to know. It is a blend of events which I won't ruin for you but it is fun and furious and there is loving we just aren't peepers this time.

There is other woman drama but no intimate scenes with anyone other than the Hero and heroine. No cheating, there is a suggestion he is with someone else after being intimate with the heroine but he isn't. Plenty of scenes with characters from previous books in the series. I liked the heroine she is Steven when the Hero is being cruel to be kind in his mind. Jan 30, Becky Baldridge rated it it was ok. The book is well-written and the story started out well enough, but it started losing me in the 2nd half.

It was just too unbelievable and it dragged in places. I feel like so much of this story was just filler and could've been left out to make for a more enjoyable story. This is my first read from this author and I've heard great things, so I was a bit disappointed in the execution of this one. I will check out other works from her in hopes that they're better reads. Always question buying another book by the same author. This book's plot and characters were different. Love the story and the suspense. Will buy all of her books. Can't wait for a new one!!!
